Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, which is designed to stop the so-called e-mail spoofing where an e-mail message is sent from one e-mail, but to appear as being sent from another, usually with the idea to fraud the recipient someway. When SPF protection is activated for a domain, an exclusive record is made for it in the Domain Name System and all the DNS servers worldwide receive it. The record contains all email servers that are allowed to send legitimate messages from an email address within the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the very first DNS server it goes to checks the SPF record and in case its sending server is authorized, the message is sent to the targeted destination. If, however, the sending server is not present in the SPF record for the given domain, the e-mail message won't be forwarded and it will be discarded. Whenever you use this solution, it will prevent third parties from sending spam messages which appear to have been sent by you.

SPF Protection in Cloud Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for each domain hosted in a cloud hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with just a few clicks. The function is available in the Emails section of our advanced Hepsia Control Panel and all you need to use it is to select one of your domains from the drop-down list and to type in the hostnames together with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers which will be authorized to send emails from your emails. As an added option you can even restrict the e-mails to be sent from your domain name only when it includes our MX records, i.e. if our servers manage the e-mail addresses for it, not some third-party supplier. This solution offers you the top degree of protection, but it is not applicable when only your website is on our servers while the email addresses for the domain are handled somewhere else. Either way, the SPF protection service will keep your email addresses risk-free from being used for spam or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you have a semi-dedicated server account from our company, you will be able to protect your emails by enabling the SPF security service for every domain in your account with only a few clicks. This can be done in the Emails section of our Hepsia Control Panel that is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts and even if you have no previous experience with these issues, you will not have any troubles to activate the security. Everything that you will have to do will be to choose a domain name from a drop-down menu and after that type in the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. Once the new record propagates, messages from your e-mail addresses will be mailed worldwide only if they were sent from that specific server. In case your emails are handled by us and not by some third-party provider, you'll also be able to use an option for emails to be sent only if the domain name has our MX records and the aforementioned would be the most secure option. In case you have any questions about thisfunction, you'll be able to contact our technical support crew 24/7.
