The NS, or Name Server records of a domain, show which servers manage the Domain Name System (DNS) records for it. Setting the name servers of a specific hosting provider for your domain name is the easiest way to forward it to their system and all its sub-records will be managed on their end. This includes A (the IP address of the server/website), MX (mail server), TXT (free text), SRV (services), CNAME (forwarding), and so on, so, in case you need to modify some of these records, you will be able to do it through their system. In other words, the NS records of a domain point out the DNS servers that are authoritative for it, so when you attempt to open a web address, the DNS servers are contacted to obtain the DNS records of the domain you are attempting to reach. This way the web site that you will see is going to be retrieved from the right location. The name servers usually have a prefix “ns” or “dns” and each domain has at least two NS records. There is absolutely no functional difference between the two prefixes, so what type a hosting provider is going to use depends entirely on their preference.

NS Records in Cloud Hosting

The avant-garde Hepsia CP, offered with with our cloud hosting products, will permit you to manage the name servers of each and every domain address registered through our company with simply a few clicks, so even if you haven't had a website hosting plan or a domain before, you simply won't encounter any issues. The Domain Manager tool, which is a part of Hepsia, comes with a very user-friendly interface and it will allow you to modify the NS records of any domain address or even a number of domains together. We give you the ability to create child name servers dns1.your-domain.com and dns2.your-domain.com for each domain address registered inside the account just as easily and all you need for that is a pair of IP addresses - either ours, if you'll use the child NS to forward the domain name to the account on our cloud platform, or the ones of the third-party company if you will use the new records to redirect the domain to their system. Unlike other providers, we don't charge more for providing this additional DNS management service.

NS Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

When you register a new domain in a semi-dedicated server account or transfer an existing one from another registrar company, you're going to be able to update its NS records as needed without any issues even if you have never had a domain name of your own before. The process takes a couple of mouse clicks in Hepsia - the user-friendly management tool, included with our semi-dedicated solutions. If you have many domain addresses inside the account, you're going to be able to update all of them at once, which can save you quite a lot of time and mouse clicks. You can also see with ease the name servers that a domain name uses and if they're the correct ones or not in order for the domain to be pointed to the account that you have got on our sophisticated cloud hosting platform. Hepsia will allow you to create private name servers under any domain registered inside the account and use them not only for that domain name, but also for any other one that you would like to point to our cloud platform.
